Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment

Offering a wide range of skin treatments, the Lynton EXCELIGHT® Medical-Grade Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is widely regarded by many Dermatologists as the most clinically effective IPL in the marketplace. Made in Britain by the UK’s No.1 IPL Award Winning manufacturer and leading NHS supplier.

The treatment has a range of uses and can alleviate a broad range of medical skin conditions, from increased pigmentation and vascular issues like thread veins to minimising the appearance of sun spots and fine lines.

It can help patients to effectively treat conditions like acne, redness and rosacea across the face and body. Patients can achieve a more luminous, even and brighter complexion thanks to its ability to enhance the appearance of damaged or pigmented skin.

Its collagen-stimulating properties can also help to rejuvenate the skin by bringing back its firmness and structure.

What Is IPL Treatment?

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, also known as a photofacial, is a way to treat and improve the colour and texture of your skin.

It can undo some of the visible damage caused by sun exposure called photoaging. You may notice it mostly on your face, neck, hands, or chest.

IPL helps a range of medical skin conditions if you have red, brown, or splotchy skin caused by acne, rosacea or a health condition.

How does IPL Treatment Work?

IPL uses light energy to target a certain colour in your skin. Light is released and the skin is heated, destroying the unwanted blood vessels or pigment.

Unlike lasers, an IPL device sends out more than one wavelength of pulsating light. It can treat a range of skin conditions at the same time.

The IPL photorejuvenation treatment removes skin imperfections and stimulates collagen and elastin production over several treatments.

Who Should Get IPL Treatment?

It works best if you have pale or light brown skin.

Talk to our medical skin experts if you want to lessen or get rid of:

  • Acne
  • Rosacea
  • Redness
  • Broken blood vessels or spider veins on the face.
  • Brown spots, also called liver or age spots
  • Dark spots from hormonal changes
  • Pigmentation and freckled skin
  • Fine wrinkles
How many treatments are necessary?

Typically 3-5 treatments are needed for optimum results, though small lesions may clear in just a single session. Repeat treatments are spaced every 4-6 weeks.

Your medical practitioner will discuss a bespoke treatment plan and give you all the advice you need.

Each IPL photorejuventaion treatment takes from 20 to 60 minutes.

A patch test will be performed at your initial consultation to determine skin suitability and maximise results.

Are there any side effects?

After treatment the area may feel warm for a few hours. Some areas can be red and slightly swollen for up to 48 hours. Though rare, there is a chance a small blister may form and there could be temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.
